Who is writing to you

Edgewood Consulting Group is a strategy and analytics consultancy for the sales and marketing side of consumer packaged goods. Manufacturers, and the retailers who stock them, hire us for assortment, portfolio, pricing, promotion and category work. Letters reach us at 1719 State Route 10, Suite 226, Parsippany, NJ 07054.

This page is the privacy policy for the website you're reading and for the business messages our firm sends by email, by phone or by post. During a client engagement, the signed contract for that engagement takes precedence over anything written here.

Why did you hear from us?

Because your job, as far as we could tell, touches the decisions we help with: category management, net revenue management, shopper insight, sales or marketing at a manufacturer or a retailer. We write to work email addresses. Now and then we'll phone a business line or mail a letter to your office instead.

We don't write unless we have reason to believe the work could matter to your responsibilities. Once you've said no, we don't write again.

What do we hold about you?

The ordinary furniture of a business relationship, and nothing sensitive.

• Contact details for work. Your name, title, employer, work email, business phone and professional profile link, wherever each is available.
• Facts about your employer. Its size, sector, locations, product categories and the channels it trades through.
• Public professional activity. Job postings, press coverage and posts made publicly by your company or by you in a professional capacity.
• Address checks. The result of a test that a work email address exists and accepts mail, run before we write.
• Correspondence. The emails, letters and calls exchanged with you, plus our notes on them.
• Visits to this site. There's no cookie and no analytics script here. Our host records the routine technical log every web server keeps: IP address, page requested, time, browser. The Poppins typeface is served by a font provider, which sees your IP address when your browser fetches the font files.

We don't ask for, and don't knowingly keep, government identifiers, financial account details, health information, or anything about religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or political views.

Where does it come from?

• Public places: employer websites, job boards, published news and professional networking profiles.
• Licensed providers of business data, which supply business contact and company records to firms like ours.
• You, whenever you answer an email, fill out a form or talk with us.

What do we do with it?

Six things, and nothing else.

• Decide whether our services plausibly fit your role and your company before we write.
• Write to you, at work, about those services.
• Confirm an email address is live before sending, so mail isn't sent to dead or mistaken addresses.
• Answer you and, when you ask us to, scope, discuss and deliver services.
• Keep the do-not-contact register current, so a request to stop actually sticks.
• Protect our systems and satisfy legal, accounting and regulatory duties.

How do you make it stop?

Answer any email from us, in any words at all, or say so to whoever calls. No form, no login, no account. We act promptly, and ten business days is the outside limit.

Your name, and the address or number you asked us not to use, go onto our stop list, the do-not-contact register. That register is checked before anyone is contacted, whatever source the details arrived from. If your details reach us again later from somewhere else, the register still blocks them.

Who else sees it?

Nobody buys it. We don't sell personal information, don't rent it, and don't pass it to other companies for their marketing or for advertising aimed at individuals. We belong to no advertising network.

It's disclosed only:

• to providers doing work for us: email and mailbox hosting, address verification, business-data licensing, web hosting and file storage. Each may use it for that job alone and is bound to confidentiality;
• to public authorities, when a law compels us, or when disclosing is the only way to protect the rights, property or safety of our firm, our clients or anyone else;
• to whoever buys or succeeds to our business, or part of it, and who takes the information subject to this policy.

How long do we keep it?

Prospect records last while they're useful and are removed as they go stale, for instance once someone has left the employer we hold for them. Client records last through the engagement and as long afterwards as tax, accounting and legal duties demand. The do-not-contact register lasts as long as we contact businesses at all; deleting an entry would defeat its purpose.

How is it protected?

Only the people at Edgewood, and the providers named above, who need the information for these purposes can reach it. We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards that are reasonable for business contact records. No storage or transmission method is perfectly secure, and we don't claim ours is.

What can you ask of us?

Anyone, anywhere, may ask us:

• what we hold about them and where we got it;
• to correct anything inaccurate or stale;
• to erase their information, apart from the do-not-contact entry we must keep in order to honour a request not to be written to.

State law may add rights: to know the categories of information collected, to correct, to delete, and to opt out of having personal information sold or shared. Since we neither sell nor share in that sense, there's nothing to opt out of, though you can ask and we'll confirm it in writing. Exercising a right never changes how we treat you: no refusal of service, no different terms, no different price.

Make a request by answering any email of ours, through https://edgewoodcg.com/contact/, the form on our main website, or by letter to the address at the foot of this page. We may check that a request comes from the email address we wrote to, or from someone entitled to act for that person. An authorised agent can ask on your behalf with proof of that authority. We answer within whatever period the applicable law sets, and we'll say if we need more time and why.

Children

This is a site for businesses and the adults who work in them. We don't knowingly gather information about anyone younger than eighteen. If you think we've done so, tell us and it will be erased.

Where is this happening?

Edgewood operates from the United States and writes to people at companies active in the United States market. The providers we use may process information in the United States and in other countries where they run their systems. We take reasonable steps to keep handling consistent with this policy wherever it happens.

When this page changes

A revised policy is posted here with a new date at the top. If you keep using the site, or keep corresponding with us, after that date, the revised policy is the one that applies.
